Antibacterial products may cause more illness than they prevent!

August 14, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment

There is a growing concern in medical community and it is Antibacterial soaps, lotions and had sanitizers. The initial concept was developed as a way to allow us to sanitize our hands when coming into contact with other people. This certainly makes sense. However, the only way that these products can be effective is if you are sure that you are killing all of the germs on your hands and body.

If you are like most people, you only wash to your wrists when washing your hands and in many cases, you don’t wash the back of your hand. The typical hand shake contacts both the palm and the back of the hand if you don’t believe me shake someone’s hand and see what parts your hand touches and what parts their hand touches. Pay attention to where the tips of the fingers are.

If you use antibacterial products but only to a specific point on the hand, there is a little line where the bacteria is getting a small dose of the antibacterial agent without being killed. Because you are not killing all of the bacterial you are stimulating an immune response that leads to acquired resistance. Read more

Aluminum…it is not just from cans!

August 11, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment

I am frequently asked about heavy metals and how to get rid of them.

My first response is usually to do a chelation detox of some type.  There are numerous products that are available on the market as well as special medical treatments that can be performed by your medical doctor.  I have made my recommendations in the past.  You can find the products that I personally use and recommend at www.axonhealthonline.com.  However, this is not why I am writing this post.

The reason i am writing this post is to alert you to the dangers of one of the most common toxic metals that we consume…Aluminum.

Most people assume that aluminum toxicity comes from drinking from aluminum cans.  This is only partly true.  The canned drink industry has addressed this issue by lining the inside of the can with coating that prevents the acids from the drink and the carbonation from dissolving the aluminum of the can.  Please note that this process was not done to protect you, but to help remove the metal taste from the drinks.   This change has significantly reduced the amount of aluminum that is absorbed from drinking from the can.  However, not 100%.

Today our biggest problem with aluminum consumption is found with other products that we use.

The two big contributors are Aluminum Foil used in cooking and surprisingly…underarm Deodorant! Read more

When is it ok to give our children over the counter medication?

When is it ok to give your children over the counter medication?

It seems we have lost touch with why our bodies do what they do.  Whether you are religious or not, you have to acknowledge that there is a power that runs our bodies that is greater than our conciousness.  This is clearly visible in the fact that many life sustaining processes happen without your knowledge.

Life is a delicate ballet of chemical reactions of life and death divinely inspired to express themselves in the form that is your body.   When you interfere with this ballet, you find that the dance is altered, awkward in a sense, creating more death than life both at the cellular and also at whole body level.

A cold or flu virus by itself is not bad.  It is what it is.  By itself it is just a bunch of just cells.  They have no affect on your  life…Until you give them a soil that they can live in. Read more

Sorry for the recent absence!

I have had a lot on my plate so to speak.  I am sure you can understand.  From running my practice, filling orders from our online store, to raising our 3 young kids it is hard to find the time.  Now I have this Info “Blog” to write for.  It all becomes a bit mind numbing.  Regardless of the time constraints, I have scheduled some specific time into my day now and will be updating and adding new content to this site daily.

I have always had a passion for giving people information that they can chew on.  I that as you read this posts, you realize that I am not trying to convince you of anything.  I just want to open your eyes to the possibilities.  I hope you enjoy the site and welcome any constructive criticism.

Calorie Control

July 9, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment

Calorie control is what all of the “packaged food” diet plans are based on. Jenny Craig and NutriSystem diet plans are based on a 1200 calorie diet plan. Each of their meals are approximately 300 calories. Consider 3 main meals at 300 calories each and 3 snacks at 100 calories each and you have your diet plan.

It is very easy to create your own program and it will be fresher and much better for you. For example, and regular sized apple has approximately 100 calories.  All you need is a Calorie counting book and a few hours each week.   By portioning out your own meal base on their calorie content and freezing them, you can have a freezer full of healthy “Unprocessed” meals. First Impression…Lasting Impression!

July 8, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment

I was on vacation over the 4th of July and had an experience at a restaurant that compelled me to write about it. In my business and really in any business, you only have one chance to make a “First” Impression.

It is unfortunate that in this case this restaurant had just opened for business a week prior to our visit. Apparently there was alot of hoopla around the opening. Friends had recommended I try it however they had not tried it themselves. We had heard negatives about other restaurants so we decided to give it a try. Read more

Finally A Game Parents Can Get Behind!

Unless you have been living under a rock, if you have school age children you should be highly aware of all of the new gaming consoles out on the market. There are Playstations I, II, and III, PSP’s, Gameboy’s, X-Box’s, X-Box 360 and now there is a system called the Wii pronounced “We”.

If you are like me, you grew up in a time where “Outside” was your gaming console. In the summer I spent every minute of every day at the pool or in the woods playing with my friends. I would only take a break to get a glass of water and for my mom to slap a sandwich in my hand on my way back out the door. Read more

Watermelon Viagra?

July 2, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · 3 Comments

Who would have thought? Scientific study done at Texas A&M shows that watermelon contains a high quantity of good for you nutrients. The one that it the most intriguing is citruline.Citrulline is known to have the ability to relax blood vessels, much like Viagra does.

When watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted into the amino acid arginine, which is greatly beneficial to the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system

Watermelon may not have a direct effect to the “organ in question” but has been shown to have a lasting effect on the male libido when eaten regularly and it has no “Drug”side effects.

The highest concentrations of citrulline are found in the rind of the watermelon. So get those teeth into the rind. Your partner will love you for it!

I recently tried a new product

July 1, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment

I recently tried a product called GBG 10-in-1 liquid multi vitamin.  While this product is not exactly new, it is new on my list.  I have searched far and wide for good products to recommend to my patients.  First let me say that GBG is not one of them.  GBG is a multi level marketing company (MLM).  This means that the whole purpose of selling this product is to make money for a lot of people.  While the price is right if you get on an autoship program, the quality in my opinion leaves a lot to be desired.  The company claims that it is the best liquid vitamin on the market…I have to disagree.

Price: $20-$40 depending on if you use the autoship program…aka…Auto money making program!

Taste: Taste in my opinion is one of the most important criteria for liquid vitamins.  If it doesn’t taste good, people wont take it.  The GBG product tastes very synthetic or artificial compared to the other products I have tried.  My children took it for a few days and they could not stand the taste and neither could I.

Ingredients:  GBG has approximately 130 vitamins and minerals, mostly highly processed in powdered form.  The key to a good liquid vitamin is using live active cultures concentrated from whole fruits and vegetables.  These ingredients should be cold processed. This is not the case with GBG.  GBG falls way short of the other products on the market.  Compare to IntraMAX with over 415 organically bound vitamins and nutrients.  IntraMAX however sells for $70-$80 and is usually only available through healthcare providers.

If you are considering this GBG product I say don’t waste your money, unless you are just one of those people who buy just because of price.  In this case you definitely get what you pay for…VERY LITTLE!
