Antibacterial products may cause more illness than they prevent!

There is a growing concern in medical community and it is Antibacterial soaps, lotions and had sanitizers. The initial concept was developed as a way to allow us to sanitize our hands when coming into contact with other people. This certainly makes sense. However, the only way that these products can be effective is if you are sure that you are killing all of the germs on your hands and body.
If you are like most people, you only wash to your wrists when washing your hands and in many cases, you don’t wash the back of your hand. The typical hand shake contacts both the palm and the back of the hand if you don’t believe me shake someone’s hand and see what parts your hand touches and what parts their hand touches. Pay attention to where the tips of the fingers are.
If you use antibacterial products but only to a specific point on the hand, there is a little line where the bacteria is getting a small dose of the antibacterial agent without being killed. Because you are not killing all of the bacterial you are stimulating an immune response that leads to acquired resistance. Read more

When is it ok to give your children over the counter medication?
It seems we have lost touch with why our bodies do what they do. Whether you are religious or not, you have to acknowledge that there is a power that runs our bodies that is greater than our conciousness. This is clearly visible in the fact that many life sustaining processes happen without your knowledge.
Life is a delicate ballet of chemical reactions of life and death divinely inspired to express themselves in the form that is your body. When you interfere with this ballet, you find that the dance is altered, awkward in a sense, creating more death than life both at the cellular and also at whole body level.
A cold or flu virus by itself is not bad. It is what it is. By itself it is just a bunch of just cells. They have no affect on your life…Until you give them a soil that they can live in. Read more

Bullying is a big problem in our schools today. However, bullying has always been a problem. The main differences between bullying today from the past are the nature of the bullying and the violence that occurs in the aftermath. Cyberbullying is becoming a popular and more destructive form of bullying than traditional bullying. More children today are bringing guns to school to seek revenge on others. Bullying has been around and will probably remain for years to come. Not only was I bullied as a child, but I continue to get bullied today as an adult. I do not believe that we have the power to rid the world of bullying. Read more

Unless you have been living under a rock, if you have school age children you should be highly aware of all of the new gaming consoles out on the market. There are Playstations I, II, and III, PSP’s, Gameboy’s, X-Box’s, X-Box 360 and now there is a system called the Wii pronounced “We”.
If you are like me, you grew up in a time where “Outside” was your gaming console. In the summer I spent every minute of every day at the pool or in the woods playing with my friends. I would only take a break to get a glass of water and for my mom to slap a sandwich in my hand on my way back out the door. Read more
Male Menopause
July 3, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · Leave a Comment
Male menopause is the result of decreased levels of the male hormone, testosterone. Most commonly, reduced testosterone is reported by those suffering from underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity or high blood pressure. These diseases are common in men over the age of 45.
While some reduction in testosterone levels occurs normally as men age, there are several conditions in which there may be a more rapid decrease. Testosterone production can be interrupted at any age through damage to the testes. The testes make testosterone, and they may be damaged due to an injury, surgery, radiation, infection, or chemotherapy. Testosterone production is mediated by parts of the brain called the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. So if either or both are damaged or not working properly at any age, they do not send the signals required for normal testosterone production to the testes, resulting in reduced testosterone levels. Watermelon Viagra?
July 2, 2008 by Dr. Chris Axon · 3 Comments
Who would have thought? Scientific study done at Texas A&M shows that watermelon contains a high quantity of good for you nutrients. The one that it the most intriguing is citruline.Citrulline is known to have the ability to relax blood vessels, much like Viagra does.
When watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted into the amino acid arginine, which is greatly beneficial to the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system
Watermelon may not have a direct effect to the “organ in question” but has been shown to have a lasting effect on the male libido when eaten regularly and it has no “Drug”side effects.
The highest concentrations of citrulline are found in the rind of the watermelon. So get those teeth into the rind. Your partner will love you for it!
Do Antioxidant Supplements Help Women?
May 21, 2008 by Vincent · Leave a Comment
It seems that everyone is jumping on the antioxidant bandwagon and why not? New research is coming out all the time that seems to indicate antioxidants can prevent cancer, strengthen your immune system and even keep you from aging. Antioxidants work by sucking up free radicals that can damage your body’s cells and transporting them to the liver where eventually they exit the body.
Heart Disease in particular has been the subject of recent studies. Researchers in Italy examined three hundred and seven middle aged women for Atherosclerosis. This is the formation of plaques and lesions in the coronary arteries, which can signal the development of cardiovascular disease years before a doctor diagnosis’s it. These women did not take vitamin supplements containing vitamins A, C or E. The researchers took blood samples to measure the women’s baseline level of various antioxidants, took questionnaires and performed ultrasound examinations of their carotid arteries and branches of the heart. They found that women who had plaques building in their arteries had a low intake of vitamin E. Women with the lowest baseline concentrations of Vitamin E in their blood were twice as likely to have plaque build up in their carotid arteries and branches of the heart. Read more
